A friend of mine has 3. I had never held one until yesterday and I have to say that I was impressed. I think I could really like hunting with one. My buddy took one elk hunting last year and said he never wished for anything more. I might have to look for one. I am intrigued. It (they) seemed to be a really good handing rifle, almost made for deer hunting.;)

There great rifles
Its becoming a bit difficult to find one these days used that's not in the price range of what many new rifles are selling for.

Keep your eye's on the gunshows and let it be known at your local gunshops what your looking for.

There are those who have made a lifetime hobby of collecting them. A couple of years ago Cabelas in Buda, TX came into a collection of around 50 or so. I spent an entire afternoon looking and touching but all of the prices were a bit high. Cabelas is in business to make money I guess. I have two. A 300 Savage and a 22 HP. The 22 HP is a takedown and is in very rough condition. It's one of those :someday" projects. I have never heard anyone say, "I regret buying my M99!"

I came across two in excellent condition and both were .300 Savage caliber. I bought one and a few months later found the other one. All the best...
