I brake for yard sales and am glad I did at noon today. A guy was selling "hunting stuff" he inheirited. There were clothes, snowshoes, some ammo, components and a few firearms. I looked over the .22s, a double 12 gauge and saw a nice Swiss K31 7.5x55mm. The arm was in very good+ condition, with a nice bore and matching numbers. It came with 3 boxes of Norma ammo and original sling. The seller does not hunt and was in a mood to negotiate.
I like Swiss arms and the 7.5x55MM is a fine round. The Swiss straight pull action is an engineering masterpiece, in my opinion. Since I have examples of Swiss M1889 and M1911 arms, this M1931 completes the straight bolt collection. Who else likes Swiss arms?

I have seen you post several times of finds you make at garage sales. Those kinds of finds would be rare here. Apparently Pennsylvania has some fine hunting. :)

Altjaeger,
Yes there are many fine guns to be found at yard sales here in PA. As I said, this was an inheirited rifle. Apparently from a father or grandfather who needed a deer rifle here, once upon a time.
Back in those days, many folks used their small game shotgun with slugs for deer. Along came many really nice military surplus arms in the 1950s and 1960s in the $15-$30.00 range that only needed a $4 or $5.00 box of hunting loads to go deer hunting. That older generation is passing and their military surplus arms are often not appreciated, or needed, by the heirs. It pays to view the weekly "Penny Saver" to see many listings of fine arms. I may need to buy another gun vault. Be well.

How much did the Swiss K31 set you back? All the best...

Gil,
At first the guy wanted to swap for my 8 Hp garden tiller. Then his wife got involved and opted for cash. I offered $130 and settled for $150 in coin of the realm.
